In the desert regions of Rajasthan, camels are often used as working animals, but unfortunately, many of them are subjected to harsh treatment and neglect. The program provides a much-needed safety net for these animals and aims to improve their quality of life.
Currently, the program has 15 camels under its care and is receiving one or two new rescue camels every day from Jaisalmer, Barmer, Osia, and nearby towns. However, the program is facing a shortage of resources, and the existing shelter needs expansion to accommodate the increasing number of rescue camels.
The rescue camels that are brought to the shelter are given medical attention and care, which includes treatments for injuries, illnesses, and paralysis. In addition to medical care, the camels are also provided with nutritious food and clean water. The program has a team of experienced veterinarians and caretakers who work tirelessly to ensure that the camels are healthy and comfortable.
The program’s efforts are not limited to providing medical care and shelter to rescue camels. It also works towards creating awareness about the plight of camels and the need to protect them. Through educational campaigns and outreach programs, the program aims to change the attitudes and behaviours of people towards these animals.
In conclusion, the Camel Rescue Program started by the Dog Home Foundation is an excellent initiative that provides vital support to rescue camels in Rajasthan. The program’s efforts to improve the welfare of these animals are commendable, and it is important that more people become aware of the program’s work and support it in any way possible.
The time will vary based on the condition of the animal and the number of animal emergencies at that time. Our helpline call attendants send the ambulances to the most critical animals first, such as animals who are unable to walk, have fractures, are bleeding, etc.
If it’s taking time for the ambulance to reach, please know that it’s because there are more critical rescues required first.
If you can bring the animal to Animal Aid yourself this is greatly appreciated and will ensure fast treatment.
